BACKGROUND ON EL PASAJE.
Three young entrepreneurs embarked on this risky journey at the end of 2010, overcoming many obstacles and setbacks in a period of severe economic crisis and in a sector monopolised by the region's heavyweights. In a short time El Pasaje became one of the most renowned places for Spanish tapas in Murcia, exquisitely presented and made from the finest raw materials. The restaurant benefits from a strategic position: it is located in Plaza de San Pedro, close to Gran Vía and the symbolic Plaza de las Flores, one of the most important gastronomy districts of Murcia. The tapas are served at the bar counter but there is also a small restaurant room further inside. The waiters' special recommendations and great atmosphere at the bar make trying delicious tapas there very inviting, while the restaurant room gives you the possibility to dine in a more secluded setting.
El Pasaje offers traditional Mediterranean cuisine, highlighting the exceptional quality of the dishes but also giving space to the chef's innovative touch. The extensive menu offers a variety of choice: from the finest seafood to various fish dishes but includes also meat specialities. What is surprising is the diversity of the tapas: all excellently prepared and highly original. Local regional products are used a lot in order to honour the Spanish tradition and the extensive wine list includes the finest wines of the country.
THE CHEF. Manolo Castro Saez.
Manolo Castro Saez is an authentic tapas genius. From a young age he studied tourism, specializing later in many different areas thanks to numerous courses. He has worked for over 30 years in the most established and well-known restaurants of the region and in 2013 his career progressed to his current role at El Pasaje. He qualified as a finalist at the National Pinchos and Tapas Competition of Valladolid, the most prestigious competition of its kind in Spain.
